TruckSim 7.01 is Released

Mechanical Simulation is pleased to announce the release of the newest version of TruckSim. This update is recommended for all users in maintenance and can be downloaded here. Only users in maintenance will be able to access the download. Please contact your sales agent if you are out of maintenance.

This update provides 64-bit support and a few more vehicle configurations that were previously provided as extra-cost custom models. Also, it provides a 3D road-builder tool, improvements in the GUI, and animator enhancements.

Here are some specific enhancements to TruckSim:

  • The TruckSim math models provide full support for both 32-bit and 64-bit operation on Windows XP and Vista.
  • Four new vehicle configurations were added:
I_I - vehicle with independent front and rear suspensions
I_II - three axle vehicle with two rear axles; all independent suspensions
II_II - four axle vehicle; two front and two rear axles; all independent suspensions
I_I + I - tractor with independent front and rear suspensions; single axle trailer with independent suspension
This brings the total number of vehicle configurations to 16. Each model is provided with and without frame twist, and in 32-bit and 64-bit versions, for a total of 64 Windows DLL solver programs.
  • TruckSim now includes the TNO Magic Formula Delft-Tyre model.
  • A new Road Builder tool is included with a GUI for quickly building 3D roads.
  • Improvements were made in the trailer hitch, with friction, viscous damping, and a simpler parametric description.
  • New VehicleSim (VS) commands were added. The new commands simplify the process of generating traffic scenarios.
  • The TruckSim browser GUI now has Undo and Redo capabilities.
  • The Animator is updated with support for automatic camera targeting and performance improvements.
  • Examples show advanced users how to run and extend the TruckSim vehicle models using the API with custom code written in from C, MATLAB, and Visual Basic.
  • C code for a Simulink S-Function is provided for advanced users to combine C code extensions with Simulink models.
  • Examples were added to illustrate traffic and sensor model extensions.
  • Documentation has been improved, with new tech memos and detailed notes for more examples provided in the TruckSim installation.
