Mechanical Simulation Releases SuspensionSim 8.2

ANN ARBOR, Mich., February 24, 2014 - Mechanical Simulation is proud to announce the release of SuspensionSim 8.2, a CAE tool specifically developed to assist with the design and development of complex suspension systems.

"This is a complete rewrite of the original SuspensionSim that began over a year ago," says Michael Sayers, CEO and chief technology officer at Mechanical Simulation. "The original math model was rewritten and extended to add VehicleSim capabilities available in our other products." The new architecture features the VehicleSim GUI, animation, plotting, nonlinear Configurable Functions, API, and VS Command scripting language. These new capabilities support the modeling of some complex suspension systems that were not possible in previous versions.

SuspensionSim 8.2 has unprecedented integration with the vehicle simulation math models in CarSim, TruckSim, and BikeSim. According to Sayers, "The new version is designed to generate datasets with custom parameters and tables that a user defines with a mixture of built-in features and new variables created with VS Commands. The dataset files can be used directly by the vehicle simulation models." The integration also works the other way: simulation results for a vehicle model in CarSim, TruckSim, or BikeSim can be loaded into SuspensionSim to see details of how the parts move and how the loads are distributed.

SuspensionSim also supports VS Events, which allow model properties to be changed during a simulation in support of optimization or automatic adjustments to meet loading requirements common in motorsports.
